Hi, and welcome to my web site of train images, otherwise known as Gregory’s Great Gauges.
Having been a keen photographer for much of my life, I was content to focus on aviation related images for many years, until a work colleague suggested that I might like to try the challenge of capturing a steam locomotive working the mainline on a special charter.
Indeed, unlike aircraft, especially those at air shows, locomotives rarely go round and round, and I realised that far more preparation was required to get that really good shot. A challenge it was, and I was hooked, slowly expanding from just mainline steam charters, to heritage galas, mainline freight and some passenger workings too.
This site contains a selection of those images, many taken in the Anglia and Home Counties regions. Living in Cambridgeshire, the scenery can certainly be a challenge, but we are fortunate in having three major rail networks within a short distance. A favourite haunt for me is the line between Peterborough and Ely, and east through Soham.
A sin I know (and apologies), but the site is ‘work in progress’, with images from last couple of years yet to be added. However, efforts are focussed on addressing this as quick as time will allow, and future images will be added more expediently so be sure to check back often.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to drop me a line, I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Kev Gregory. 3rd February 2012.
