Welcome to Gregory’s Great Gauges, a play on words, for my collection of rail based photographs.
Having been a keen aviation photographer for a number of years, a work colleague suggested I might like to try my hand at railway photography over the winter months, when the air show season was taking its break. The rest is, as they say, history.
I have since become a member of both the Great Central Railway, and the North Norfolk Railway, supporting both of these heritage lines, along with others as much as I can.
The train that started it all, GWR 4900 Class No. 4936 Kinlet Hall, hauling The Burton Mail, north towards March on the 19th July 2008.
Throughout the site, which is continually growing, you will find a variety of images of both mainline and heritage railways, along with a few associated special events. Based in Cambridgeshire, I am lucky to have the ECML, GEML and MML all close by, but the various locations shot at also range far wider throughout the years.
Each year is linked above, and broken down into months, which also show the individual pages of mainline and/or heritage photo shoots.
Thanks for looking, and if you have any questions, comments or requests, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Regards,
Kev.
